Long Story Short
hello! let's see how i'll start this...
First off, my name is Rachel! I am a 15 year old girl who has lived my entire life right in the heart of the bay area in oh so sunny California. I am a typical high school student loaded with academics, clubs, sports...and more stuff you are all probably familiar with. The not-so typical part of me that most all my friends and family know is that - I. LOVE. TO. COOK.
Long Story Long
I cannot emphasize that point enough in text. I am 100%, absolutely, most definitely, completely obsessed with cooking, food, and the entire culinary stratosphere. For as long as i can remember, I would always be in the kitchen. My parents said that when I was younger, after halloween I would always take the candy (and no not eat it) and make "soup"! I would use my toy kitchen-ware to cut, mash, stir, chop and cook my soup outta the candy. As i grew older, my parents had a little bit more confidence in me being in the kitchen and then there was born- rachel, the cooking freak. The very very first edible dish I made was an terrifyingly ugly mix of sautéed zucchini, tomatoes, american cheese and egg- all of which i cut and cooked myself! To my parents surprise, they actually liked it! As the years, grew on, I educated myself about the culinary universe with the help of The Food Network, YouTube, my family and especially my crazy cooker grammy Benny! Now don't think I was one of those kids who made chocolate chip cookies and pancakes; I was that 8 year old girl whipping up crepes, soufflés, pasta dishes, stews, homemade ice creams and a bunch of other fancy stuff. It was no surprise to anyone that at my age, instead of sitting down to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants (ok i watched it a little), I turned on Giada at Home :D It only came to my attention at around 13 years old that, "Hey, I should probably apply to one of those cooking shows such as Master Chef Junior or Chopped Teens!". I tried. a lot. I submitted multiple applications within that year but no luck :( Then i found out, I was too old for Master Chef Junior! Well whatever, I still do what I love, whenever I want and my family sure does love the end result- dinner. Now that my sister is growing older, my parents and I are finding her in the kitchen on saturday mornings looking up some new pancake recipe or her new love- mug cakes! The other day, she cooked us an amazing glass noodle korean dish- japche! I guess you can say that cooking runs through our blood ;) Wow. That's a lot about me, phew. All in all, I really haven't found anything more exciting in my life other than cooking.
Other Than Cooking
Wait, hold on. There's more to me that just "that crazy girl who loves to cook". I promise. Though I really do love cooking and food, there is a bunch of other things I do! I love to play tennis with my friends and dad! Though I am not at Serena William's level, I am good enough to make the school team! HAH. I am probably not the most athletic chic out there but hey, I can at least get the ball over the net and possibly score a few points. I've also been playing the piano since I was around 8 years old but no I am not some prodigy; I just do it for fun! If you know anything about my family, you would know that we are the family version "High School Musical". No gathering goes without someone pulling out the guitar where everyone starts to sing and jam! You really have to see it to believe it. More about my family, we love to travel especially where there's good food! For all the trips I can remember, I am always the one who has to make the list of all the places and eateries we need to try out. In school, I am involved in a variety of interest and service based clubs but one of my most dearest clubs helps out kids at local elementary schools to improve their reading and writing scores- I absolutely love to work with kids! Can't wait for you to learn more about me throughout all my posts along the years!!
About My Blog
After reading a heck of a lot about me, you probably have figured out what this blog is about- Fashion! Just kidding, its of course going to be about FOOD. I hope to make at least a post a month (bear with me, I'm still a high school student) about a great recipe I have created. My posts will mostly be new recipes ranging from Asian to Italian to desserts to meat dishes to veggie food to- you get the point. I really have no boundaries with my cooking. As soon as i see a video or show involving some sort of food, i get inspired, drag my dad to the grocery story and hit the kitchen. If you have any ideas or suggestions as to a new recipe I should try out, please feel free to leave a comment or contact me here!
